I did it. I survived my first author reading—and by small-town literary standards, it was a hit. Here are a few highlights:
-The dress: Bold, comfortable, and a little tomato-adjacent.
-Bookstore cat: Made itself comfortable under said dress for the entire hour, head poking out, tail rhythmically brushing my leg like a feline metronome.
-Attendance: We started with 10 chairs and had to grab more. Sure, I knew most of the people going in—but by the end, I knew them all!
-Afterparty: We took over a local spot owned by the bookstore owner’s mom. I invited new friends from the reading... and they actually came. That’s how you know it went well.
Thanks to everyone who cheered me on and showed up. I felt every bit of it.
Happy Reading!

In very happy (and far less criminal) news, Postmarked for Peril was picked as the May Book Club selection at the Roslyn Library! Even better—it was the librarian’s pick.

Libraries have always been important to me. One of my very first jobs was shelving books at my hometown library. I was so diligent, they eventually promoted me to the basement to repair books. (It caused quite the fracas—apparently, glue pot privileges were a big deal.)
But libraries aren’t just places to borrow books—they’re the heart of a community and fierce protectors of free speech and thought.
I’m honored to be part of that legacy—and delighted that some other poor kid will have to shelve it.
This month I teamed up with cozy mystery writer Anna de Wahl to offer her book, Buried Secrets, for free! It’s —currently rocking a 4.6-star rating on Amazon and you can get it here!
Every parent thinks their baby is the cutest. Same goes for dog owners. And apparently… authors with bookmarks.
I’m giving away a batch of these adorable bookmarks, originally created for local bookstores to highlight the hometown connection in Postmarked for Peril. They turned out so cute, I couldn’t resist making a version to share with readers.
