Some authors dream of big panels and packed readings. Me? I’m more of a coffee-and-conversation kind of gal. The word marketing has me reaching for the EpiPen.
But early on, I got a piece of advice that stuck: Get involved in your community, and make sure you’re giving more than you’re asking for. That fits perfectly with the cozy community vibe I love. So when I moved back to my small town, I embraced it. What I didn’t expect was how much the community would give back.
The local librarian built a dedicated display around Postmarked for Peril. Pearl Street Books started carrying it after a new friend marched in and brazenly told them they had to. (They listened. Now they’ve sold out three times.) The Teanaway Country Store—one of my favorite spots to buy gifts—said “yes” before I even finished asking if they’d carry my book.
And now… deep breath… I’m doing a book reading. To help launch Pearl Street Books’ new evening author series, I’ll be the first up—new dress, nerves rattled, and sticking only to clear beverages—mishap proof.
What started as a simple way to promote my book turned into something much bigger: a wonderfully supportive community. I set out hoping to give more than I got—now I’m just trying to keep up.
Thanks for being part of my amazing cozy crew.
Happy Reading!
Eve
The second Claryce Falls Mystery is officially underway—though progress is slower than I’d like, and there may be a plot hole or two big enough to lose a Mastiff in. Still, I’m thrilled to be back making mischief with Maya and her gang.
So here is the sneak peek I promised last month. Take a look at Chapter One and let me know—would you keep reading, or chuck it in with the Mastiff?
Congratulations to Dee, Lana, Deborah, Diane, and Jody—you’ve each won a Postmarked for Peril bookmark!
Thank you to everyone who entered. It truly made my day to see your names pop up—I’m so grateful to you all for your interest and support.
Winners, keep a lookout in your inbox. I’m awaiting your reply—and then your bookmark is on its way!
I’ve joined a delightful collective of cozy mystery authors, and I’m excited to introduce you to two of them! You can check out a couple of their books for free—and maybe even discover your next favorite sleuth.
